![]() But I do still believe it has it's place in this game and deserves to have a queue system for those who enjoy CaS and dont have an issue fighting it. CaS I feel is an artificial way to increase that skill ceiling. Now not saying the whole game needs to be tournament style but the skill ceiling is in a competitive environment what can be achieved. With the skill ceiling I personally cant agree with, I dont agree with it is because I feel that even though I'll never be tournament level they have the most balanced environment set up for a match. This gives an unfair advantage in my eye's. I am making the assumption I'm not gonna deny that, but through just my experience I have faced enough reg Ast I learned a distance I need to be to grab him now lets say reg Ast is 5 height(mostly because im not sure) I cant say if the people who I try to grab at that range are 1-4 but I have noticed that the people who dont have the same hit box the grab missing consistently. TL DR No, it ends up in the long run giving you a handicap majority of the time. This is why I believe we just need 3 online options two of which would be a queue system "Ranked" "Normal" then "Casual" Now I have nothing against CaS(I've made my fair share of CaS) I just believe even with the "balance" on your range you still end up getting a handicap majority of the time. Now lets say they it's the opposite the only ever face short Ast, this will lead to them learning the range and hit box of a character that when they go against normal Ast moves they learned the range to not get hit by will now be hitting them which makes them now have to learn a whole new way to deal with normal Ast and now apply this to every hit box/range change based on height and you start expecting people to learn 5 different play style's for one character now throw in the other 20 characters and you go from having to learn all that for 21 characters to 105. ![]() But the other person unless they consistently face short Ast(which isn't a safe assumption) is going to be at a disadvantage because your hit box isn't the same as they have learned for Ast. Saying yes would mean that is the balance but it isn't a balance at all since say you only play your short Ast you learn your range and everything quickly. If Ranked is taken to be the highest form of competition most people will frequently engage in, should it not follow at least semi-stringent rules, or is it your opinion that a ranked mode isn't meant to provide an even playing field for all? Or does an even playing field mean that every person should feel obligated to create the smallest CAS they can for ranked play if they care about winning? It DOES come up fairly frequently and it DOES impact matches in a tangible way. Now, a Xianghua-sized Taki isn't something that's necessarily going to register for me until I've already flubbed the combo once and realized she ain't the right size, and that can EASILY be a match by itself, not to mention that's one advantage I may have practiced and ingrained in my head to use against Taki that's out of my pocket completely now. I have a couple combos in my pocket that I won't be pulling out against, say, a Xianghua, but I would pull them out against a Taki. The height differences can be almost imperceptible to the eye but can cause combos to whiff easily. ![]() Upcoming Soulcalibur tournaments on smash.gg CaS Contest ThreadsĪll threads can be found here Other Links Hayate EIN's 5 Essential Things for a Good Start Beginner's Guide ![]() Learning Materialsīasic overview of the characters and their strategies Welcome!
